PCC

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is the main decision making body of the ecclesiastical parish. Its members are the clergy, churchwardens andmembers of the congregation elected by the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) of the parish. It has the responsibility, along with the incumbent, to promote the mission of God in the parish. Legally, the PCC is responsible for the finances of the Church. It also has ultimate responsibility for the care and maintenance of all church buildings and their contents. It also has a voice in the forms of Service used by the Church.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

• Elect a Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Chair and appoint a Standing Committee

• Ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place for public worship and provide theopportunity for people of all ages to meet for prayer and worship

• Support its clergy, prayerfully and personally

• PCC members are Trustees of a charity and are responsible for managing the Church’s finances. They must ensure that all funds are properly accounted for, the books properly maintained, and the annual accounts inspected or audited, and formally approved by the PCC, prior to the APCM

• The care and maintenance of the fabric of all Church buildings.

• The PCC is required by law to meet at least four times a year

• Read all papers before attending meetings so you are prepared
